This is what you see after launching Option-Calculator. It is a very small and concise window, which you can leave open on desktop all day long.

Calculator preference dialog lets you choose the option price and interest rate to use during calculation.

This is option quote window, showing 20-minute delayed market data. The menu items in this window bring you to the right spots in many other websites so that you can do stock research and market analysis without any typing. Click any option in the option chain displayed will bring up the calculator window.

Calculator Window consists of three tabbed panes. All fields in each pane are populated automatically with data from option quote window and calculation results. You can also customize all the input parameters and recalculate in each pane.

IV estimate pane lets you to calculate implied volatility.

Option estimate pane lets you to calculate fair values and Greeks of the option. Tooltips in this pane explain the meaning of each Greek.

Covered call pane provides covered call analysis.

Max-Pain Dialog shows open interest value at expiry curve. Calculation is based on current open interest.

Option-Calculator User Tip: In option estimate pane of calculator window, ToolTip appears when mouse cursor hovers over the Greeks text labels.

Other useful User Tips:

  • Press "Esc" key to hide calculator window.
  • Use "Tab", "Shift-Tab" to traverse focus in calculator window.
  • In calculator window, after editing input fields, press "Enter" to recalculate. No need to click the "[Re]calculate" buttons.
